H4TW welcomes Dr. Om P. Ganda for a lecture on Hyperlipidemia. Dr. Ganda begins by explaining the importance of hyperlipidemia and how it causes significant morbidity and mortality; cardiovascular disease. Dr. Ganda then explains the role of Statin drugs, the only proven therapy to reduce risk of cardiovascular disease in diabetes. Furthermore, Dr. Ganda explains the goals of intensive statin therapy and what outcomes and side effects can be expected with intensive statin therapy. Finally, Dr. Ganda ends his lecture with a discussion of dyslipidemia and what efforts are being made to manage this condition.
