H4TW welcomes Dr. Kevin Shapiro to lecture on Pediatric Stroke. Please join us as
he describes Perinatal Arterial Ischemic Stroke (PAIS), the workup involved, and the initial
management of this condition. Stroke is common in the neonatal period and understanding more
about this disease is vital for pediatricians and healthcare workers. Dr. Shapiro also provides
more information about ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke in this population and the most common
causes, which are arteriopathy and arteriovenous malformations, respectively. Finally, Dr. Shapiro
explains the findings of Venous Sinus Thrombosis and how this disease presents with findings
consistent with both hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke.
